NOS Primavera Sound ended this weekend. This festival is held in Oporto and is the Portuguese edition of the Primavera Sound Festival that originates from Barcelona, and that takes place one week later in the north city of Portugal. The first edition was in 2012 with about 70.000 people wondering through the Parque da Cidade. This year, while celebrating the 6th anniversary, over 90.000 people saw concerts of Bon Iver, Metronomy, Aphex Twin, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard e many others.

We were there and we can say that this is a great festival! The line-up was very varied, with the best that the indie music has to offer. From rock to pop, and through electronic and hip-hop, you can find music throughout four stages for every taste. And it is one of the most international festivals, has we encounter people of more than 40 different countries. And the place is awesome. We can almost wonder if the Parque da Cidade was made to receive a festival. Two large stages, side by side in a huge lawn and separated just by some trees. With a tilted field, everyone can see who’s on stage from anywhere. A third stage is above, in a kind of amphitheatre made of trees. The last one, just in the entry of the venue, with a concrete floor is active until the dawn. Just has you enter the festival you also have the eating area, with lots of offer and now with a space dedicated to gourmet street food.

It’s important to say that there are lots of bathrooms and are relatively clean. Even so, there are lines to the ladies’ bathrooms and it could be cleaner.

In general, it’s a great festival to hear good music and meet people from everywhere! The atmosphere is amazing and the venue is excellent! We are definitely coming back, every time.

The Best of the Fest!

The Line-Up: It’s every indie’s dream. You have it from all genres, from rock to pop, electronic to hip-hop. The same is to say, from Bon Iver to Nicolas Jaar, Justice to Run The Jewels, Angel Olsen to Elza Soares… And still, enjoy Sleaford Mods, The Black Angels, Swans, Death Grips, Teenage Fanclub, Rodrigo Leão or King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

. The Venue: Beautiful and amazing. You have it all along the 4 stages. An amazing park with a beautiful view. Every seat is a comfortable seat.

. Green Festival: NOS Primavera Sound has a major concern for the environment. The best example is the reusable cups. Thus, the festival grounds were spotless all weekend.

. The Weather: hot and sunny, it’s summer time in Oporto.

. Food: Well, if the line-up is good what can you say about the food? A large variety of gourmet street-food with options for everyone.

. People: Everybody is nice here. Locals and tourists, you can make friends with anyone.
